Love Chapel

Dear Pintail Friends

[09/17/11]  Bonnie and Dianne shopped, and delivered groceries to Love Chapel Pantry on Friday morning. We are pleased to tell you that the total amount of our donation was $650.00! Wow, that is really great. We began the neighborhood donation program here at Pintail nearly four years ago. We have enjoyed this opportunity to serve our community, and have greatly appreciated the participation of many of you. Due to the fact that many of our residents are donating to this worthy cause through churches and other organizations, we have opted to discontinue the organized neighborhood donation. We definitely encourage any and all of you to continue to support this cause! Bonnie and Dianne are both willing to transport goods, and or cash and checks to Love Chapel for you. Just let one of us know if you have something to be delivered there, and we will take care of it. Thanks again for contributing to this effort over the past four years! Over that time we have given a great deal, and I know that it has been well appreciated!

Dianne and Bonnie

P.S. I noticed at Marsh Grocery this week that you can purchase a pre-packaged sack of groceries for Love Chapel. I don't recall the cost per sack, but it would be an easy way to make a donation.

[09/04/11]  As many of you know, Love Chapel is desperately in need of stock for their pantry due to the continuing economic situation.     Many of us will be gathering tomorrow, September 5th at Bonnie's to share a bountiful and delicious meal.   We are all so fortunate!!!   If you would like to bring a donation of cash or check, we will shop, and donate to Love Chapel as we have in the past.   If you are not able to come to the get together at Bonnie's, and would like to get in on this donation please get your money to me sometime this coming week.    I will plan to shop the week of September 12th.

Dianne

[06/29/10]   I am pleased to report to you that once again our Pintail Neighborhood has been extremely generous! We were able to purchase a little over $700.00 worth of food today!!! I think that is really awesome! We generally follow the guidance of staff at Love Chapel as to most needed items. Our purchases today included lots of cereal, canned chicken and Spam, Kraft Mac and Cheese, Great Northern Beans, canned ravioli, and peanut butter and jelly. Our van was totally full, and fortunately we had help to load it at Sam's Club, and to unload it at Love Chapel. I am grateful to each of you who participated, and hope that you will share in the sense of satisfaction that Bonnie and Dianne have felt in making this delivery! We could not do it without each of you! Thanks,

Dianne and Bonnie

[6/24/0]  I have read several articles recently about the plight of some of the many impoverished families who are really struggling to keep food on the table for their children. It is a known fact that donations to food pantries decline during the summer months, and often July and August are particularly sparse. This situation definitely affects Love Chapel. Donations are always more generous in November and December. I am grateful to live in a neighborhood where we are all generously blessed. The caring and mutual support of one another here is truly a gift! We are a generous group of people, and if our generosity can help even a few of the local families who are struggling with hunger this summer it is well worth our effort.
Donations for Love Chapel will be accepted during the next week. It would be nice to shop and make our donation prior to the 4th of July holiday weekend. Please get your donations to Bonnie or Dianne by Monday, June 28th. As a reminder, please make your check out to one of us so that we can cash and shop for needed items. (Receipt is available upon request.) Thanks for your continued support of this little project. I believe that it makes a difference! If you have not participated previously we would welcome you to join in now! If you would like to be part of the shopping and delivery to Love Chapel please let us know, we would be glad to include you. It is a heart-warming experience, and we are happy to share that with you!

Dianne & Bonnie

[2/15/10]  Just a note to let you all know that during the course of 2009 Pintail Residents donated a total of $1875.00 to Love Chapel! We didn't start collecting for 2009 until July. We really did a great job for the second half of the year! Bonnie and Dianne enjoyed shopping and delivering the goods. I know there was help from a couple of others of you as well. Thanks. If some others would enjoy the shopping and delivery please let us know, there is room for many hands to help.

Thanks to all off you who took part. I think our efforts made a difference!

I have sent an individual statement to all of the donors. Let me know if you have questions.

Dianne

We had $400.00 to spend for donations to Love Chapel this past week!!!!   Many thanks to all of you who chipped in on this shopping trip!   We got of oodles of jelly, peanut butter, minute rice, and Ramen Noodles.   We also threw in some large packages of toilet paper.    These were the items most needed at this point in time.    Seems like the need for peanut butter and jelly is endless!    There were lots of people working the pantry, organizing, and putting donations away.    They are already organizing for the Christmas pantry so the needs are really great at this time.    As Bonnie mentioned in an e-mail a couple of months ago, their new building is so much larger, and affords much better space for organization and storage of food.    I think it probably also allows for many more volunteers to work at any given time.     It is always such a good feeling to shop for and deliver the food that we know will be helpful to so many people.

Our thanks to a very generous neighborhood for making this effort possible!

We will plan to make another trip in early December.     I will send out a reminder for all who would like to take part at that time.

It's that time of year that the needs at Love Chapel are ever expanding.  We are planning to shop for the most needed grocery items,  and deliver those items to Love Chapel during the first week in November. Many of you have continued to be so generous, and we really appreciate your kindness.   As Bonnie mentioned after the last shopping trip,  our efforts are noticed, and greatly appreciated by the staff at Love Chapel, and of course by the recipients.

As we all know many folks have struggled terribly since the flooding in Columbus, and that was compounded by loss of job and income for many families.    We are all so blessed, and what a wonderful thing that we are able to share those blessings.

If you would like to participate in this giving, please give your check, or your cash to one of us by November 1.   Remember that making your check out to me enables us to do the shopping and deliver to the pantry which is a savings of Love Chapel staff time and effort.

Thanks for your consideration.

Yesterday I went to Love Chapel with our $345 worth of canned chicken, canned tuna, spam, canned green beans, huge jars of white beans(a favorite at LC), and canned peaches.  Our donation was received with great appreciation, as they are always in need of these items it seems.  Today I received a letter of thanks from Love Chapel (Elizabeth Kestler) and I have it on file with all our names and donation amounts ready for Dianne F. to prepare our tax receipts later this fall.  Thank you for your generous contributions; our neighborhood has received some amount of fame for our generosity.  Any e-mails which I send announcing our next trip to LC are meant to be informative, not nags!  Please do not feel pressured to donate at any time; I know we all give to many causes.  Thanks for your help...

We would like to offer thanks to all of you for your generosity this holiday season.   We had a total of $510.00, and we purchased 295.5 pounds of ham from Maria Foods.   This was delivered to Love Chapel, and put safely in their refrigerators.  It will be given out in food baskets to eligible clients in the next few days.   Elizabeth Kestler, Director at Love Chapel was there to receive our donation, and was very grateful. Over the course of 2008 since we began making donations in May, we as a neighborhood have donated $1810.00 in food.   Thanks to everyone who has taken part in this project!   We'll get back with you next spring! We wish a wonderful holiday to all of you!

Dianne and Bonnie,  December 16, 2008

We will be donating groceries to Love Chapel again shortly.  They continue to have huge needs, and this time of year there are more and more folks hopeful for help from Love Chapel.  If you would like to get in on this donation, please get your money to Bonnie by Oct 15th.   We have been trying to go about one time per month, and we always call ahead to see what items are most needed.   We are grateful for any support available for this worthy cause.

Jim and I returned to Columbus about midnight Tuesday night after about 5 weeks away.    We had lots of fun visiting with family at our home in NC.   Jim went to the PGA in Michigan with our oldest son, Brian.   I hear they had a super time.     I spent time at Jekyll Island , GA at a Cooking School, and we visited with my sister and brother-in-law at their condo at St. Simons, GA.     Since Bonnie and Maggie were also at Jekyll Island, cooking with me, you have probably already heard stories!!!, and they are probably mostly true!   We had a great time!

I am back to life in Columbus, and thinking of our Love Chapel endeavor.    I know that Bonnie and Maggie took care of it in my absence.   Thanks to all of you who pitched in!   I will add those donations to my record keeping.    Sometime next week, we will shop again, and take needed items to Love Chapel.   If you would like to get in on this donation, please get it to Bonnie or me by Sunday, Sep 9th.    We will go early in the week.

I hope this finds all of you doing well.    It was great to return to our neighborhood after lots of fun away.   I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the Orben's on Friday!

Bonnie and I shopped for Love Chapel this morning, and we were pleased to deliver $265.00 worth of canned goods to Love Chapel!   We check each time to see what items are most needed.   Today was vegetables.  We got corn, beans, peas, tomatoes, tomato sauce,  Ravioli, Spagetti O's,  dried mashed potatoes, baked beans, and marinara sauce for pasta.     We thank each of you for your donations.    It only takes a few dollars from each of us to add up to a lot of groceries for those in need   We had a full van load today!

Love Chapel is really packed with folks needing help right now, and they are most appreciative of our donations. Our next trip will be around Aug 15th. You are welcome to get your donations to either Bonnie or myself before 8/15/2008. I am keeping careful records of each individual's donations,  have gotten receipts for our purchases, and receipts from Love Chapel.   I will be able to provide a record for any of you who may want it at the end of the year  If your check is made out to Love Chapel we give the check to them directly, but are not able to use that amount for our shopping.

Thanks once again for the generosity of our Pintail neighborhood!!!   This is a great group of people!

Dianne, July 21, 2008

Thanks to those of you who have sent cash or checks to us for this Love Chapel shopping trip.   We will be going later this week to purchase whatever is most needed at this point.   We always check with them before shopping  so that we hit the most needed items.

As you know there is greatly increased need since the flood, and our contributions have been most appreciated!  Pintail people have been very generous, and for that we thank you!     If you would still like to get in on this shopping trip, please get your donation to Bonnie or Dianne before Friday of this week.

Dianne, July 15, 2008

Thanks to Pintail Residents we made a cash donation to Love Chapel for $320.00 today!   This will go toward the many needs that result from recent flooding.    Every dollar counts at this time with so many more families in need.  Thanks for your generosity!!!

Our next Pintail donation will be sometime after June 15th.  We are on a slightly altered schedule due to things beyond our control! It is our hope to stick pretty closely to the 1st and 15th in future months.    Once again we will check with Elizabeth Kestler at Love Chapel to determine the best way to make our donation.   You can give your donations to Bonnie or Dianne.   We are keeping careful records of your donations, and will be accountable to those who may need to verify their contributions.

Thanks for your support.

At Christmastime Bonnie and I had the pleasure of taking some groceries to Love Chapel for donation.  We were both touched by the tremendous need that exists right here in Columbus.   Even at holiday time when people are generally very generous in their giving, the shelves at the pantry were nearly bare.  Today with rising food and fuel costs,  I think the needs for the food pantry are even greater.

In our conversations about community needs, and opportunities for us to volunteer our time and effort we have decided on a small project to get us started.  We will make a shopping trip to purchase items that will be delivered and dontated to Love Chapel two times monthly.    We plan to do this on our own, but thought that other Pintail residents may have an interest in supporting this effort.    We will shop on or about the 1st and the 15th of each month.   We are happy to receive any size monetary donation that you would like to make, and include it in the total amount that we have to spend for this worthwhile cause.

If you would like to take part in this effort, you may write a check or send cash to Bonnie Whisman at1151 Pintail Ct. or Dianne Farrar 1091 Pintail Court.   If you send a donation, and happen to miss our shopping trip, we will simply throw it into the next shopping trip.   We would to delighted to have any and all of you share in this project.

Sincerely,

Dianne & Bonnie, May 8, 2008
